U of S Huskie Women's Soccer Program
"We are extremely grateful for the contribution of Affinity Insurance to our program." - Jerson Barandica-Hamilton. Huskie Women's Soccer
To any University of Saskatchewan sports team member, but especially to the members of the Huskie Women's Soccer program,
being a Huskie is a privilege and an honour. To these dedicated players, it means being a positive role model for the community
and using soccer as a platform to teach life lessons through the power of sport. Student-athletes can learn how to become better
leaders for tomorrow by learning how to collaborate, sacrifice individual accolades for the betterment of a team, balance and
prioritize their time, overcome adversity, and, most importantly, be present in every moment of the journey.
The Huskies are a proud tradition and highly regarded sports organization in our province. Huskie student-athletes and athletic
programs often serve as the primary gateways through which the University connects with its alumni and the community. With their
strong reputation, the Huskies have an essential duty as positive role models on and off the field to represent the team well
while pursuing academic and athletic greatness.
Currently, University Women's Soccer is the highest level of women's soccer that female athletes can reach in Saskatchewan and
in Canada. Many young female athletes dream of playing for a University League, so the Huskies use their platform to inspire
these young athletes and provide them with an opportunity to reach their aspirations. The Huskies have fully embraced becoming
role models to the younger generation by establishing a positive culture within the sport and giving back to the community.
Every year, the organization carries out many off-the-field fundraising and awareness initiatives, such as the Mental Health
Awareness Game, Play for a Cure, the Goal-a-Thon Initiative, and more.
The support of local businesses is critical in the team's pursuit of athletic achievement. As a relatively young program that
has found notable success in the past eight years, the Huskie Women's Soccer team works hard to close the gap and compete with
soccer programs with historical reputations and traditional success. This gap can only be closed by providing outstanding
year-round growth experiences to their players. These experiences help shape current players as they play, lead, and learn and
also attract talent to the program that strives to achieve more. However, to provide these year-round experiences, substantial
funds are needed from November to August when the budget becomes self-funded. Therefore, the Huskies greatly depend on the
generous donations of companies that align with their team values.
In the summer of 2022, Affinity Insurance was proud to sponsor a new branded tent for the Huskie Women's Soccer program.
This new asset has helped give the program more opportunities to showcase its core values and culture. In addition, it has
given the team a perfect location to meet and greet supporters and make community connections at the end of their games.
